On Wednesday Miles gave his presentation on Ebola which was, to say the least, very graphic. While the pictures were not the most pleasant to view before lunch, they did reinforce the fact that the Ebola virus is a very deadly threat all over Africa. He discussed the structure of the virus and the nature of its quick replication. It was interesting to learn about the different 'levels' of threats that for biosafety; I never would have guessed that HIV was only a 'level 2' threat.
After the presentation we began discussing the entrepreneurial aspect of the class. I was exited to hear about the many different fields each person was pursuing in the class. Hopefully as we progress more into the technical side of starting companies several of us might find a way to pursue grant money in our own respective field, whether it be physics, biology, medicine, or education.
